Ms. Cunningham graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University in 1980. Ms. Cunningham is a member of the California Bar Association, the Employment Section of the California Bar Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA).
Ms. Cunningham has more than 25 years of extensive experience in all aspects of employment law, including in-house counsel to 3 Fortune 500 companies. As well as lead labor counsel, she was the director of Employee Relations at her last company which had over 7500 employees throughout the US. Thereafter, Ms. Cunningham developed her own private practice and has worked successfully with many different types and sizes of employers including the entertainment industry, religious organizations, hospitals, medical and professional offices, and manufacturing facilities.
Ms. Cunningham is a recognized expert in sexual harassment and all types of employment discrimination. She is especially noted for her wide experience conducting workplace investigations where she assists and resolves employee conflicts and disputes. Ms. Cunningham is skilled in handling all types of wage and hour complaints and in appearing before the various regulatory agencies in this regard. Ms. Cunningham has worked with all of the employment regulatory agencies, including the California Department of Fair Housing and Employment and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Ms. Cunningham works with employers to avoid costly and difficult litigation, but is also aware that litigation may be necessary. When that occurs, she is there to assist her clients and guide them through this arduous process.
